You never take advice, someday you'll pay the price
I know I've seen it before, It happens all the time
Basics
Name || Leanne Holloway
Nicknames || Some students call her an Ice Queen behind her back, which combines her cold and strict personality with her ability. To her face, though, Leanne expects students to call her Ms. Holloway or professor. Her colleagues can call her Leanne, and Leanne absolutely hates being called nicknames.
Age || 31
Gender || Female
Sexuality || Lesbian
Ability || Leanne can control and manipulate ice. She can’t control water—any water she tries to manipulate will freeze. Leanne can produce ice out of thin air (though technically it’s not thin air, because she takes the water molecules from the air and freezes them) and when she does this the area around her gets cold. Leanne herself is naturally cold to the touch from her ability, and when she uses it in the classroom (as she often does, usually to make ice for her drinks) it gets cold.
Leanne can also withstand cold temperatures. She can touch ice and not flinch, she can survive in a snowstorm without a heavy coat, ect.
Job || Teacher at Irina
Subject || Mathematics. Leanne’s always been a strict and harsh teacher, who is good at her job though has zero patience for those who don’t put forth any effort. If you’re not going to her class with a desire to learn, she’s going to pick up on that fast. Leanne is usually tolerant and patient with students she knows are genuinely putting in an effort, though those who she knows aren’t get the short end of the stick. Leanne gives homework daily and expects everyone to do it. She’s probably got a reputation as one of the strictest teachers at Irina.
Dorm || Faculty dorms
Health problems || Nothing major, but a health benefit of hers is that she can withstand extremely cold temperatures for longer periods of time than most humans should naturally be able to. It’s because of her ability, obviously. Leanne does not like hot weather much, and is prone to hot flashes during particularly warm weather.
You're closing the door, you leave the world behind, you're digging for gold
Yet throwing away a fortune in feelings, but someday you'll pay
Appearance
Height || 5’10”
Body type || Leanne is a very tall woman, standing at 5’10”, and she’s almost always wearing heels on top of that that elevate her to about 6’. Leanne’s naturally tanned.
Hair color and style || Leanne’s hair is black, and usually when she’s teaching she pulls it back into a high set bun or a ponytail. She’s not opposed to letting it down but it’s just more of a hastle when it falls into her eyes like that. Leanne’s hair is always combed and kept neat. Her eyebrows are arched, too.
Clothing Style || Usually Leanne is seen in semi-formal at the worst. She doesn’t like to look like a slob at all, and thinks it unprofessional for a teacher to be seen in anything but semi-formal wear. Usually she wears pantsuits or dresses to class, accompanied with her heels, which that elevate her above many of her students. Leanne is also never seen without makeup, and always sports the cats eyeliner and eye shadow that darkens her face even more.
In the winter, Leanne doesn’t always wear a coat. And if she does it’s usually merely for style. Leanne likes peacoats and stylish mini-jackets.
What would this character change about their appearance, if they could? ||
You're as cold as ice, you're willing to sacrifice our love, you want Paradise
Someday you'll pay the price, I know I've seen it before, It happens all the time
Personality
Likes || Pumpkin spice everything, Halloween, fall, cities, the dark, walking alone, jewelry, cold weather, formal occasions, makeup, the name Jane, cookies, snow, windy days, overcast days, winter, hot chocolate
Dislikes || Students who don’t care, silver spoons, spoiled children who think they don’t need to pay attention, spinach, her niece Celia, sunny days, flirtatious men, distractions in her classroom, impolite/rude behavior, sexual jokes, when people talk freely about sex
Fears || Heights
Life Goals ||
Overall personality || Leanne is the first person to divide a strict and thick line between her work life and her personal life. Leanne, in the classroom where most people know her, is strict and harsh. She’s not the kind of person who’s easily swayed by sob stories or anything like that. She’s tough and sticks to her beliefs and thoughts. She does, however, have a good sense of humor that often comes out in her work. Her humor is dry and sarcastic, but generally it makes her classes at least somewhat lively. She’s not completely stubborn—she can admit she’s wrong—but normally she’s not and she knows she’s not. She takes pride in her work and her job and herself, and she can quickly tell when others don’t. If you’re not taking her lessons seriously, Leanne usually has a way of telling and will lose respect easily. Slackers get little respect by her, and those who actually try get respect by her. She can be intimidating when she is annoyed, in a bad mood, or if she doesn’t like your work ethic.
Leanne is incredibly intelligent, and not only at mathematics. She grew up well educated and with a good head on her shoulders. She has a lot of common sense as well as a lot of wit. Around her coworkers, Leanne is respectful and humorous, though sometimes she can come off as bitter or cross. Leanne’s no stranger to being called a bitch behind her back, but if you dare say it to her face Leanne will have no hesitance before she calls you out on being disrespectful.
To Leanne, respect is the most important thing a person can have. She tends to nag you about manners when they’re not given, even if it’s not her you’re talking to—frankly it’s best for you to just suck it up and be respectful to others around her. She has a zero tolerance policy for bullying, rude comments, or bigotry. She believes that treating others with respect is a good way to get yourself respected.

Background || Leanne was born to a very large and wealthy family. The Holloways lived in northern Maine by the coast. Their mother was a self-made real estate broker, and her father a friendly small town restaurant owner. To this day Leanne isn’t entirely sure what her strict, brutal, and emotionless mother ever saw in a goofy and spineless man, but they’re still together today in their old age and no one can deny that they are still very much in love.
Leanne was raised with her mother as the head of the family. She had, in total, 6 siblings. Two brothers and 4 sisters. Her brothers were subject to teasing from her sisters all the time. Leanne was the second youngest, the only one younger than her was Peter, one of her brothers. Growing up, her brothers Michael and Peter were universally targeted by their sisters. They got teased, shoved around, bossed around, ect. Michael and Peter took after their father in personality, too, so they both just took the teasing.
Leanne was raised to both respect and fear her parents. Her mother, a strict and conservative woman, emphasized the point of manners to all of her children. Their mother did not know that the girls teased the boys, and their father was very passive about it and merely told the boys that they were simply teasing. Leanne and all of her siblings were raised rich and all of them are still rich to this day. Their family name, the Holloways, generally got them places. Their gifts, talents, and brains kept them there.
From a very young age, Leanne was extremely well educated on gifts. Most all of her family had them. Only two of her siblings, Peter and Gwendolyn, didn’t have gifts. Leanne discovered hers when she was 8 years old, playing out in the snow. She could control the ice and freeze the lake near them to the point that it was thick enough to be skated on. Leanne was always cold to the touch, yet never seemed to be cold herself for her whole life. When her ability came out her parents were happy, and like the rest of her siblings who had gifts, Leanne found herself shipped off to a boarding school in Maine to get educated on how to use her gifts. At school things were no different—the Holloway girls were, however, what one might refer to as the ‘popular clique’. They were all conventionally attractive and idolized by the student body. However they were all cruel.
Leanne was the stoic, studious one. She had no time for boys, dating, or partying. She discovered she liked girls in her teenage years. For her it was very casual. She just had no interest in boys, and found girls more attractive. At first she thought it was because she couldn’t help but equate every boy with her brothers, but she soon realized it ran deeper than that. Leanne came out to her family when she decided to pursue a teaching degree. They were shockingly (to her, anyway) accepting of this, as long as Leanne kept her relationships ‘dignified’ and didn’t ‘make a whore of herself’. In fact, her first reaction was ”Good. I won’t have to worry about an illegitimate grandchild.”
Leanne got a job at Irina, a school different than the one she graduated from herself. She was expecting that none of her future nieces and nephews would attend Irina in favor of her alma mater, but unfortunately for her, her brother Michael’s wife, Kaedyn, thought it would be good to send their spoiled, snot-nosed brat Celia to the same school Leanne was at to ‘keep an eye on her’. Leanne had no say in the matter and had to grit her teeth when Celia enrolled at Irina her freshman year, about 3 years after Leanne started her job.
Leanne will call Celia out when she’s rude or disrespectful to others. However for the most part, Leanne does not bother with her and vice versa. Leanne and Celia only pretend to get along for the sake of their family—when they are not around, they don’t hold back on one another.
